Empowering People to Excel
From curriculum development to engaging learners and supporting holistic education, we rely on
the skills and dedication of our faculty and staff.
In 2015, we had a total staff strength of almost 1,000 employees, a growth of 4.6% over the
previous year. Consistent with our belief in helping people achieve their potential, we invested
$1.45 million in their training. The majority of our staff achieved the 40-hour training and
development national target. Staff attended both public and customised courses to improve their
technical competencies and personal effectiveness.

Helping People Achieve Their Dreams
SIM provides scholarships for aspiring individuals who wish to further their potential through
continual learning. Two scholarships, the SIM-Richard K M Eu scholarship and SIM-You Poh Seng
scholarship valued at $100,000 each, provide bond-free financial aid for SIM graduates to pursue
postgraduate studies in selected fields. Scholarships at undergraduate levels are also provided for
UniSIM and SIM GE students.
This year, the SIM-Richard K M Eu scholarship was awarded to a UB psychology graduate, who
will pursue his PhD in neuroscience at University College London. In addition, 27 UniSIM and SIM
GE scholarships with a total value of close to $400,000 were given out.
Making a Difference Through Social Good
At the heart of our social mission is the spirit of giving. Both school and student-led initiatives are
encouraged as we play our part as responsible social citizens.
One such social project we continued to support is our sponsorship of the Singapore Symphony
Orchestra President's Young Performers Concert for the 15th year. The prestigious annual concert
provides a platform for young Singaporeans to showcase their musical talents, in line with SIM's
philosophy of nurturing young talent and supporting holistic development.
As part of UniSIM’s 10th year anniversary celebrations, UniSIM board members and staff raised
$30,000 for the Asian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA).
Student volunteer projects included one by the SIM-UOL Student Representative Council, in
conjunction with community partners, to refurbish the houses of needy families in Telok Blangah
and Bukit Ho Swee. SIM–UB students also did their part by raising funds and helping to construct
a study corner and conduct English lessons for villagers at a Sarawak longhouse.
